Hi Friends,

I have a fun story to share!

The Perfect Pet Owner!

Imagine you are the perfect pet owner. You absolutely love your pets and think of them as family members. In fact, you have always felt that way because your childhood home was filled with wonderful pets. Even as a child, on your occasional bad day, your family pets were a huge comfort. They always seemed tuned in to your problems. They would do something goofy or fun that would bring a smile to your face. Sometimes, they were even more tuned in to your needs than friends and family, as they never seemed judgmental. They didn’t complain about much of anything….okay maybe you had a cat that was a finicky eater and would “protest” by not eating a meal or two.  So, in summary, pets are pretty much perfect family members…except for one thing….they don’t live as long as their human companions.

Since you are a perfect pet owner, we are going to make some guesses about your life. You grew up well, in a loving environment. How could it be otherwise if your home was filled with pets? You are well adjusted and can easily make friends. You have a great family that helped you with your pursuits and cared deeply about your succeeding. And you have! You got that great job, started that wonderful business. You are well adjusted, and you know pets bring joy to your life. During those college years, you might not have had a pet (except maybe the one at home that couldn’t join you in your college dorm or first apartment).  You were busy with everything and just didn’t have time to give these wonderful companions the attention they deserved.  Maybe by 25 you are ready to once again have pets….and one just isn’t enough. So, you quickly add two dogs and a cat to your family. Most small and medium sized dogs live to around 11 years on average, but yours are probably going to make it to 15. Why, you say? Because you’re exceptional. You make a good income and can afford pet insurance, giving your furry friends great medical care.  You make sure they eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise. To make this story a little simpler, all your pets are going to live for 15 years. Since you got them at age 25, they may live until you are 40. They probably saw you grow up professionally, go through heartbreaks, maybe partner up and have a family. All that time they were a big part of your life and an endless source of comfort. By 40, you will need 3 more pets because, well, life without pets just isn’t going to happen. They will see you through to 55. During those years, your pets help you through your midlife crisis, watch you pay off your house, and, if you have kids, put them through college. Their quirky personalities and unconditional love helped you through every bump in the road. You will always remember your old pets, your current furry companions and their quirky personalities. At 55 you need at least 3 more furry friends (or maybe non furry….turtles live for a long time!) The kids might be out of the house, and it might feel a little empty….if you didn’t have pets. Thank goodness you do! No empty nest for you, just pets that fill your life with joy. You’re heading into retirement and by 70 you will need three more little critters. They have filled your life with so much joy and they keep you young into your retirement and eventually, old age. You’re 85 now. You probably can’t handle 3 more, but you are a young 85 and can still keep up with one. So, in comes another pet who will be with you for the rest of your life….unless you manage to live beyond a hundred. Don’t kid yourself, with so much love in your life, it could easily happen, but that is another story.

So, what is the point of this story? Your life has been rich with pets. You grew up with three, had three more sets of three from 25 to 85 and one more after that. So, lets add it up….3 + 3 +3 +3 +1 = 13. You will have 13 wonderful family members during your perfect pet parent life. 13 adorable little beings with great personalities, funny habits and crazy behaviors…who all loved you very much. You were such a great pet parent that they were always there for you during good and bad times. So, how you will you remember them? As the years go by, will you remember all the fun things they did for you and all the times they made you smile. I think you can tell where this is going… this is why you need pet photography.

Not just any pet photography….pet photography that lives on.

You need a pet photographer who will help you tell your story! You need physical products to remind you of these wonderful companions with a portrait on the wall or an album for the coffee table. These memories will last a lifetime. You could also remember them with a storyshow or fun video that will make you smile or chuckle.  Whatever it is, you need more than digital images. Social media posts with photos are quickly forgotten, but albums and wall portraits are constant reminders that your life was truly enriched with these awesome companions.   That storyshow is digital, and I suggest you keep it handy so you can play it in a picture frame…or a frame TV! Who knows, maybe they will be holograms instead of videos, and perhaps you will view them with a virtual reality headset. Regardless, you really do need to remember your pets for the great comfort they bring when you reminiscence.

Don’t waste time…

Our fur children unfortunately don’t enjoy our lifespan.   It’s easy to put off getting good photos, because it’s a little time consuming and might be expensive. Fortunately, you can afford to capture these wonderful memories, as you can afford the vet bills, the pet insurance and the best food that keeps them healthy. It’s all part of the equation….especially when you think of them as family members.

A good pet photographer knows how to make all this happen….and have a lot of fun while doing it. Not only will you get great photos and other media, but the experience is a memory in itself. Pet photo sessions are just plain fun for everyone!

As pet photographers, we would be honored to serve you and your pet family members!
