The Gentle Giants of the PNW: A Heritage Portrait Project
There is something profoundly unique about the Bernese Mountain Dog. Beyond their massive paws and iconic tri-color coats, there is a specific kind of wisdom in their eyes—a quiet, soulful dignity that feels as deep as the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
The history of this breed in our region is storied. From the early pioneers who first brought the breed to the PNW in the 1960s to the legendary lines that have shaped the temperament of the modern Berner, our area has a special connection to these Gentle Giants.
At Angel Dog Photography, I’ve spent my career focusing on the “unspoken bond.” I don’t just want to take pictures of dogs; I want to document the quiet, authentic character that makes a Berner a Berner. Whether it’s the clumsy joy of a puppy learning to navigate the world or the profound, patient gaze of a senior dog who has seen it all, there is a story in every frame.
I am currently looking for a few specific models to help me launch a new Heritage Collection.
This project is a dedicated portfolio commission. I am seeking a handful of local Bernese Mountain Dogs—seniors, puppies, and everything in between—to serve as the faces of this collection.
Why Apply?
This is more than a photo session. It is a tribute to the breed’s history in our community. If selected as a model, you will receive:
-
A Complimentary Creative Session: A personalized, dog-considerate experience tailored to your dog’s unique personality.
-
The Heritage Gift: A custom-crafted 8×10″ Metal Portrait Plaque, featuring your dog’s name and a personalized tribute to their lineage.
-
A Private Reveal: An intimate look at your curated gallery and an opportunity to own high-end, legacy-quality wall art.
We are keeping this project highly limited to ensure the highest standard of portraiture and a stress-free experience for every dog involved.
Does your companion have that special “look”? If you want to help us honor the legacy of these incredible dogs, I would love to hear from you.
I can’t wait to meet the Gentle Giants of Gig Harbor.
Warmly,
Jim Skintauy
